Judith Claire Bassett
As a young mother and previously a lawyer and having being elected previously on the Hobson Community Board, I’m committed to better advocacy and governance for the Waitemata community.
As a lawyer who has lived and worked in central Auckland for over 19 years I understand the positive strengths our multicultural city has become. I was previously appointed to the Auckland Conservation Board and will work for you to put a cap on rate increases and Council debt.
I’m a Company Director and entrepreneur. I have a PhD in urban planning and have lived in the CBD for 10 years. I’m passionate about improving where we live and work through robust and economically sound decision making which is why I believe Auckland would be stronger with Auckland Future.
As a Rhodes scholar and technology and business leader in a leading New Zealand horticultural business I am focussed on innovation, sustainability and getting results. A passionate born and bred Aucklander who wants to make sure the Council controls costs and delivers on Auckland's amazing potential.
I am a New Zealand Army veteran with a culture of doing more for less. I pledge to Waitemata ratepayers to bring this attitude every time the local board spends money. My profession as a property lawyer means I can cut through complex issues like housing and transport to deliver common sense perspectives.
I’m a current Local Board Member for Waitemata ( 2010 – 2016) and a former Auckland City Councillor (2007 – 2010). As a self employed financial advisor with accounting and legal qualifications I’m committed to protecting and improving the Waitemata Community. My pledge when elected is that the Local Board will be accountable to our community and will provide value i.e. deeds not words.
As Managing Director of my own communication company I believe strongly in fiscal responsibility and ensuring rates are reasonable. I am also on the Executive for the Bluegreens who are policy advisors to the National Party on environmental issues. I have a track record of delivering community environmental initiatives and I will be a strong advocate for environmental initiatives in the Council. As Deputy Chair of the National Party’s Auckland Central Electorate I understand the role of strong leadership in the community and getting things done!
